The accuracy of geohazards regional analysis and geohazards risk assessment is utterly dependent on the reliability of raw geological data and the rationality of the mathematical models. To upgrade the reliability of data, geographical information system (GIS) can be used to effectively support multi resource raw geological data management, perform data processing, refine map layers for factors needed in analysis, and easily divide the region into units for analyzing use. Then, via secondary programming based on GIS, artificial neural network(ANN) model can be combined with GIS tightly, i.e., GIS takes the role of providing input data for ANN as well as processing its analysis results and outputting them in forms of maps. Combining with the trial area from Badong to Xintan in Three Gorge area of Yangtz River, the feasibility and practical methods to integrate ANN with GIS, named as GIS Based ANN, were discussed in this paper. And its application on geohazards risk assessment was illuminated too. Generally, the thoughtway is also available to resolve the combination between GIS and other mathematical models.
