The application of robust estimation in leveling network data processing

Data processing is an important part of surveying and mapping work,and how to effectively eliminate or reduce the negative impact of the gross errors to the adjustment in observations has always been one of people's concern.Under the situation of no gross errors in observations,the adjustment of the least squares estimation is the best,while the gross errors have always been existent during the real measurement.The result of the traditional least squares estimation will be far departure from the correct value,which lost its significance.This paper will explore the resistance of robust estimation to gross errors by using the robust estimation method.On this basis,the procedures design to robust estimation has been made,and by comparing analysis to real example,the superiority of robust estimation method has been explained.
