Analogical Representation, Hybrid Reasoning and Situation Assessment

Yiyong Liu · Acta Simulata Systematica Sinica · 2003

The representation of battlefield environments as knowledge and the related reasoning approaches involve difficult problems to be urgently solved in concerning battlefield situation assessments. The extended analogical representation and hybrid reasoning framework adopts a multi-layer analogical structure to represent battlefield environments and related military knowledge. This framework has extended the diagram models, and comprises in the corresponding sentence system the first order predication logic, the non-monotonic logic, the fuzzy logic, the Demster-Shafer evidence theory and the corresponding proving theories. Thus it possesses the ability to represent various undetermined knowledge and uncertain phenomena, and to reason about these phenomena based on such kinds of knowledge. The example concerning battlefield situation assessment gives a brief illustration of the power of the framework and approach to use it.
