Expert systems for predicting grasshoppers in Gansu province include database, knowledge base and model base. The most important function is to predict the occurrence of grasshoppers. It can provide users the expert knowledge and the control techniques through multimedia (e. g. , graphics and imaginary information) technologies. Users can use it to classify grasshoppers and predict their occurrence trend, and at the same time, to select proper time and technology to control grasshopper. It is very helpful to grassland protection and livestock production in Gansu Province.
