IEEE1588 Protocol and Its Implementation Technology in Routing and Switching Platform

NGN(next-generation network) is a completely new network in combination of IP technology and multimedia communication technology. However,when involving in business applications and requiring TDM clock synchronization,NGN network based on IP technology would demand perfect clock synchronization to satisfy the related synchronization need. IEEE1588 protocol standard efficiently solves the problems of clock synchronization in the new-generation routing and switching platform. This article analyzes the clock synchronization process of offset measurement and delay measurement in IEEE1588 protocol,and gives the implementation of IEEE1588 protocol in the routing and switching platform.
