Precise character segmentation of postcode on flat mail label

With the increasing of commercial flat mails attached with mailing labels, a way of precise character segmentation is presented by combining the way of projection with the adaptive average-character-interval in order to sort these mails automatically. The experiments show that the method provides precise segmentation and orientation. Therefore, the proposed method is proved to be effective for application for further recognition of the postcode.
