It introduced concept and software characteristic of WebGIS, analyzed deeply the system framework and running mechanismof ArcIMS. Took the middle yellow river coarse sediment source area as a example, based on the application of GIS and the other relational technology especially the WebGIS , built a electronic map infor-mation system of water and soil maintenance based on WebGIS of middle yellow river coarse sediment source area.
