Overview of the latest progress of the global drug research in key therapeutic areas

The number of new drugs approved by FDA in 2013 is less than last year,but the quality is higher than that of 2012,in which a plurality of new drugs has great blockbusterpotential. There are hopeful drugs drawing the pharmaceutical industry's attention for each therapeutic category. According to the key therapeutic categories such as oncology,cardiovascular disease,infectious disease,metabolic disease,central nervous system diseases as well as autoimmune diseases,the global investigational drugs in key therapeutic areas,including new launches in 2013,breakthrough therapy designation( BTD)-qualified drugs which are expected to becomeblockbusterdrugs as well as the orphan drugs were elaborated in this paper,and some investigational new drugs in the field of priorities treatment in the late-stage development were also listed.
