THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE OPERATING SYSTEM CL

Yu Song, Fu G · Chinese Journal of Computers · 1981

The operating system CL developed for the computerized Chinese character editing and laser typesetting system is a time-sharing system with real-time functions. Jobs submitted to CL reflect the special demands of the editing and the typesetting system. The processing programs corresponding to the jobs are also a part of the system. There is a clear hierarchical structure in the system CL. A number of processes at various levels are concurrently executed on a kernel. Thus, all resources of the system are used more efficiently and the terminal users' calls can be responded to in time. To reduce the system overhead a series of efficient methods have been adopted. The system CL also has its characteristics in memory management and information managemant.
