Coming of fault traveling-wave is detected and located accurately using principle of wavelet singularity detection,singularity detection starting element based on wavelet transform modulus sum is constructed,and practical element algorithm is given.ATP simulation and authentication on measured transient faulted data show that the starting element meets the requirement of fault starting——not resist action when fault and not action when no fault,it is suitable for the fault detection and starting on traveling-wave protection or transient-based protection.
