GIS is important equipment of a transmission and distribution network,whose fault will threaten safe operation of a power network seriously.On the basis of typical fault introduction of GIS,the strong and weak points of many monitoring methods are analyzed.After that the mode structure,characteristic extract and mode sort of the fault mode technology available are summarized.
