A realization of adaptive static image coding

Because of the constraint of quantized level in every sub-block in Block Truncating Coding(BTC), the coder cannot detect the variation of the image edges correctly, thus some useful information is lost in the sub-block in which the brightness changes steeply. In order to solve this problem, the paper brings forward an adaptive method—AMBTC(Adaptive Module Block Truncating Coding), the simulations prove that: The proposed algorithm has great improvement in terms of the construction of the image edges, this scheme can also achieve better vision performance.
