On the Technique of Collage Polyphony Used in Stravinsky's Histoire du soldat

The Histoire du soldat(The Soldier's Tale) is Stravinsky's important work in his transition period from Russian style to the neo-classicism.With the polyphonic idea,Stravinsky used of collage techniques to compose the work as melodic writing,harmonic conception,and rhythmic design that made the whole piece possessed individual effect.The paper discussed the composer's aesthetics conception,analyzed the various writing methods related to the usage of collage techniques,and proposed an argument that Stravinsky's usage of collage techniques lead by polyphonic idea carved out an open thinking for polyphony development in the modern.
