A Discussion of Issues Concerning the Virtual Property on the Internet
Xie Ren-hai · Journal of Jiangsu University · 2004
As an outcome of the dramatically expanding industry of online games, virtual property on the Internet possesses the general characteristics of property while at the same time it distinguishes itself in its form of existence and function. The uncertainty of its function, the derivability of its forming patterns and the dependence of its value on form determine that the assessment of its value must involve various factors: while the ISP enjoys the property rights, the subscribers or game players, contracted with ISP for service, can enjoy or transfer the prescribed rights to gain an access to the service. The transaction of virtual property, different from the transaction of other properties, shall also be regulated, governed and protected by the law.
