The effect of surfactant tween 80 on the bio degradation of phenanthrene and pyrene in contaminated soil was studied. The experiment lasted for 150 d. Samples were collected in 30 d, 60 d and 150 d to monitor the degradation rates of phenanthrene and pyrene in the soil. The results indicated that after 30 d the degradation rate of phenanthrene was 81%~98.9% and 22.02% higher than that of CK, and that of pyrene was up to 71.90%~80.66% and 9.46% higher than that of CK. After 60 d, the degradation rate of phenanthrene reached to 88.94%~96.51% and was 11.14% higher than that of CK, and that of pyrene was 92.39%~94.02% and 2.27% higher than that of CK. After 150 d, the degradation rate of phenanthrene was as high as 98% and that of pyrene was over 96%,and no significant difference was found in the degradation rates between this treatment and the CK. The study also indicated that the soil treated with surfactant contained dominant fungi, Penicillium freguentans Westling, P. vermiculatum Dangeard, P. Lilacinum Thom and Cephalosporium acremonium Corda, and they greatly promote the degradation of phenanthrene and pyrene in soil.
