In this paper, through analyze the intra prediction algorithm,a fast and simple intra prediction mode selection algorithm for 4×4 blocks is used and improved, and this method is used in 16×16 blocks, meanwhile,by calculate the smoothness of the 16×16 to decide whether use mode for the 4×4 blocks.Simulation results for all-I frame-sequence with different contents show that the proposed algorithm have some advantage and practicality.
