Mobile Ad Hoc network is a new-style mobile multihop wireless network. The costs of the nodes resource should be minimized whenever constructing the group key agreement protocol in the Ad Hoc network. This paper proposes a novel group key agreement protocol MTKA-ECC based on a multi tier structure. In this protocol, the elliptic curve cryptosystem is employed to establish and allocate group key.So the protocol has some advantages that are the cost of computation and communication on node in key agreement process is low.Compared with TGDH and GDH group key agreement protocols, this protocol decreases both the computational overhead and communication costs and adapts to the mobile Ad Hoc network.
