Compression of SAR raw data using block adaptive trellis coded quantization

Combining with traditional BAQ(block adaptive quantization),a new method(block adaptive trellis coded quantization,BATCQ) which utilizes TCQ(trellis coded quantization) in SAR raw data compression was proposed.First,block adaptive quantization of raw data was implemented to reduce the data dynamic range.Then,based on the SAR raw data characteristic,TCQ was applied to the data after BAQ.The method utilized convolutional encoding and signal space expanding to increase Euclidian distance between signals,and the gain of quantization was further improved.Simulation results show that the method has advantages in SAR raw data compression in quantization and rate-distortion performance.
