Design of scalar quantizer based on wireless sensor networks

Distributed coding is one of the most important aspects in wireless sensor networks.The design of scalar quantizer for distributed coding is investigated,and the problem of designing optimal scalar quantizer is analyzed.An arithmetic model consisting of a linear combination of distortion and rate is proposed.An improved Lloyds iterative algorithm is adopted based on the model.The new algorithm ensures the optimality or local optimality of scalar quantizer.
