An adaptive algorithm to enhance convergence speed of VCP

TCP becomes inefficient as the product of bandwidth and latency increases.To address this problem,the variable structure congestion control protocol(VCP) is proposed,which maintains low queue length,high utilization and fairness.However,VCP shows slow convergence speed with the burst traffic flows.In this paper,we firstly analyze the root cause of the slow convergence.Then we propose an adaptive algorithm to solve the problem and present stability analysis.NS2 simulation results show that our algorithm is effective and maintains the good properties of VCP.
