Markov Chain Based TCP Performance Analysis and Simulation in Wireless Multi-hop Networks

Zhen Zhide · 2008

Although TCP is well tuned for wired or broadcasting domain networks. TCP performs poorly in wireless Multi-hop Network. Using Markov chain model and renewal and reward theory, this paper analyzes the throughput performance achieved by a standard and delayed acknowledge TCP connection over wireless Multi-hop Network. Study result illustrates that there can be a significant throughput in some conditions if use delayed acknowledgement strategy. The model and analysis in this paper will be useful towards the understanding of more complicated scenarios and new TCP protocol in wireless multi-hop Network.
