The conflicting semantic structures(ontologies) hinder the interoperability among legacy knowledge-based systems and become the obstacle to develop an unified platform of knowledge processing. To solve this problem, the paper views distributed heteromorphic knowledge-based systems as MAS,an mediated agent-based integration architecture is proposed.By expressing the ontologies of legacy knowledge-based systems explicitly, with the help of battlespace domain ontologies, and ontology-mapping rules, the conflicting semantic problem between ontologies can be solved, the semantic interoperability and integration between legacy knowledge-based systems can be realized.
