Usual Failure and Infrared Diagnose of Arrester

Line infrared diagnose on running arrester is an effective techno-measure for live-diagnosing of power equipment.The thermal feature of lightning arresters of FS,FZ,FCZ and FCD,and metal oxide surge arresters was analyzed when it is in normal and faulty condition and the basic method of failure detection.And it explain the elemental principle of infrared thermometer and in the end introduce the application of infrared diagnose.It is considered that the failure of surge arrester is caused mainly by moisture ingress which characterized by local temperature rise.Temperature inside surge arresters is measured in service with infrared thermometer and the service status being analyzed.The result shows that high reliability of surge arrester diagnose can be obtained using infrared technology.
