A Metric System to Evaluate Attack Effects of Denial-of-service(DoS)

Aiming at incomplete descriptions on denial-of-service attack effects, how to build a metric system to evaluate attack effects of denial-of-service(DoS) was studied. Based on analysis of network attack libraries, 28 atomic functions were proposed to rep- resent general DoS effects. A 3-level metric system to evaluate attack effects of DoS was proposed, including atomic functions, evaluating index, collecting index. There are some merits of the metric system, such as representing most DoS effects, operable index, clearly levels.
