Development of a New Platform for Freeway Pavement Maintenance Management Information Data

Such complexity of pavement maintenance data as location,time,and types of the maintenance data determines that the relational two-dimensional tables are not the best methods for storing highway maintenance related data.Meanwhile,the direct application of relational database as the data platform is unfavorable to the formation of a good system structure.In this paper,an XML-based maintenance information data platform was presented as a data container to effectively store large quantities of maintenance related data under uncertainties.Besides,this platform could provide a safe,convenient,and efficient means to access the maintenance data and software interface for later development.Moreover,as the data bus for information system,this platform provides basic data services and incident services,which simplifies the system structure and at the same time greatly improves,the development efficiency of the system.
