Multi-template Switch Motion Estimation Based on Prediction Direction in H.264

In this paper,a new motion estimation algorithm based on multi-template switching according to prediction direction is presented.It uses vectors’ sum of optimal point direction and movement direction to forecast the next movement direction and switches templates real-timely.During the realization process,in order to reduce search time,looking-up table method is used to achieve template switching and the threshold is set to exit.Text results indicate that this algorithm is effective.
