The combination of satellite network and IP network has become a hot topic, since the further development of Internet service needs increased bandwidth and mobility.TCP is the major transmission protocol of TCP/IP protocol stack, and its transmission efficiency in the network is one of the key factors that influence the transmission performance of IP network. The paper describes the features of satellite IP,analyzes the transmission performance of TCP in satellite network based on issues such as the high channel error rate, long transmission delay and asymmetric channels of satellite network, and introduces some research results of this field in recent years.
