The Opportunity and Challenge of Big Data's Application in Power Distribution Networks

The industrial chain of power supply system consists of six links, i.e. planning, design, construction, operation, management regulation and equipment design and manufacturing. Demand strength and relatively mature degree of these six links were analyzed. They can be ranked according to intensity and relative application maturity from strong to weak demand as: management, operation, equipment manufacturing, construction, design and planning. SWOT method was used to analyze both opportunities and challenges of big data application in power distribution networks. The big data source of power supply enterprise's internal operation consists of 3 parts, physical grid operation, marketing service and grid enterprise operation. At present, all sorts of unstructured data are exploding, how to make use of data-intensive science for science and technology innovation to serve the society still need to study hard.
