This paper is a summary of an interview with Dr. Mark Shuttleworth,a world famous expert in the field of machine translation and translation technology. In the interview,Dr. Shuttleworth reviews the research and application of Machine Translation and Translation Technology in Europe,identifies problems that have occurred and projects into the future development of this area. He believes that integrated research on Machine Translation and Translation Technology will remain the trend and the upgraded online service mode of translation technology will further improve translation quality. He also believes that Machine Translation will become available on electronic devices such as mobile phones,which will make cross-lingual and cultural communication even more convenient.
