Research on ontology-based metadata management system

The idea of combining ontology with metadata can solve problems of heterogeneity of databases integration.The framework of ontology-based metadata management system,the layered principle and the design project is presented.In this system,the schema information of a local database is described by using metadata,and then the concept of ontology is imported to describe the relations between terms of metadata.A layered approach is consided to metadata management and then an semantically unified global schema is provided for users to shield heterogeneity of the rock-bottom databases.By extracting much more useful information from metadata,this system can solve multiform semantic problems of data integration and can deal with the query of databases simply.
