Simulation and Analysis of Dispatching Policies in Web Server Cluster

There are two kinds of content-aware dispatching policies in web server cluster: segregation dispatching policy and mixture dispatching policy. Stochastic Petri Net (SPN) was used to model and analyze the two policies, and Stochastic Petri Net Package (SPNP) was used to simulate their models. The simulation results show that segregation policy is better than mixture policy if configured properly. In addition, practical tests also show that the performance of segregation policy is better than that of mixture policy.
