A Study on Transformation of CGM Format into MAPGIS Format

The development of computer technology promotes the development of graphic technology,and there appear many kinds of graphic data formats.But the problem of data sharing arises due to the different formats.CGM(computer graphic metafile) is a standard of ISO,and it has the advantage of being scientific and sharable.MAPGIS is a type of software,which combines graphic technology,computer technology and GIS technology.And it occupies an import position in GIS field,such as oil,house property,mapping,pipe network and so on.But CGM data can not be read effectively in MAPGI,thus affecting the data use.This paper investigates and analyzes the CGM data format,finds a bridge between CGM and MAPGIS,and realizes the integration of the two.Furthermore,it is proved by a sample test that CGM data could have better application in GIS area.
