Analysis of DDoS Attacks and Our Countermeasures

Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS) Attacks are coordinated attacks from many sources simultaneously against one or more targets,each source generating a large amount of traffic.The victims of DDoS Attacks become highly congested,and can't provide service to their legitimate users or their quality of service degrades seriously.DDoS Attacks have made the vulnerability of Internet more apparent.This paper attempts to explain how the attacks work,and how the Internet works,so as to make it understood why it is hard to cope with the attacks today.And then it introduces some major tools of DDoS.Finally,it provides some contermeasures to defend against them and help alleviate their bad effect.
