Abstract Workflow Model Based on AOV Network

According to the requirement of workflow management system for project management,an abstract workflow model based on Activity On Vertex(AOV) network is presented.The formal definition of this model,time sequences of nodes are given.Rules of the workflow design and execution are given,including branch and cycle structure design rules,and a synchronization rule for joining nodes in branch structures.An optimized cycle detection method is presented.Application results show that the model is efficient.
