A Design of Current Controlled Oscillator in Class D Audio Amplifiers

Qingming Huang · Audio Engineering · 2010

A simple CCO(Current Controlled Oscillator) in Class D audio power amplifiers based on the N well 0.5 μm DPTM CMOS technology is proposed. The operating principle of current controlled oscillator is analyzed, and the the design of oscillator is introdeced. Through functional and circuit simulations, a frequency 250 kHz oscillator is obtain at 5 V power supply voltage, oscillating frequency changes with the temperature and supply voltage changes in a small scale, only 4%. This circuit has been used for a Class D audio power amplifier chip.
