Improving Keyword Search Efficiency on History Information

Shan Wang · Journal of Chinese Computer Systems · 2011

Keyword search on relational databases facilitates users' information retrieval without any knowledge of the database schema or SQL grammer. It guarantees the completeness of the result by joining tables. But existed search methods have not been proposed to use the history information,so that a complete new search process must been done to resolve the user input. However, history informa-tion not only contains results but also reflects relevance among keywords. This paper focuses on this problem, and proposes a novel so-lution.Firstly,partition algorithm divides user input into history keywords and new keywords.Secondly, process the search with history information to get some subgraphs.Thirdly, rank all of the results according to the relevance to keywords. We conducted extensive per-formance studies using DBLP dataset to confirm the efficiency and effectiveness of our algorithms.
