Color image enhancement method based on Homomorphic filtering

A color image enhancement algorithm based on the homomorphic filtering is proposed.Firstly,by introducing a new transfer function the traditional homomorphic filtering algorithm is improved to enhance the RGB three components of color image.Secondly,the RGB image is converted to HSV color space.Hue and saturation maintained are unchanged,but the brightness component is enhanced by using CLAHE transform and piecewise linear stretch.Finally,the final color enhanced image is obtained by converting the HSV back to the RGB image.Simulation results show that the new algorithm can not only enhance the image brightness but also enhances image detail.
