The paper Introduces the total station, GPS-RTK for the measurement principle of digital mapping, and points out its advantages and disadvantages, and puts forward the method of digital mapping by using GPS-RTK technology combined with total station instrument.It analyses its advantage, introducing the working method connected with the concretely work practice.It proves that the combination of GPS-RTK technique with the Total Station digital mapping is more superiority and higher degree of automation, which can simplify the observation program, improve observing efficiency, and be widely used in topographic survey.
