With the massive extension of Internet,Transport Control Protocol(TCP) as the key end-to-end transport protocol will be employed widely in the next generation cellular system(e.g.4G).In this paper, the impact of radio uplink on TCP performance is investigated.According to the findings,a novel scheme for TCP improvement over uplink is presented. In the proposed scheme, the message feed backed from the Radio Control Link layer(RLC) is utilized to control the operation of timer in TCP layer adaptively. The simulation results presented in the paper indicates that the proposed scheme enables TCP to perform more effectively than the traditional TCP in the environment with low reliability, longer burst errors and larger handover delay.
