Structure of Turbo Encoder/Decoder and Performance Simulation Based on LOG-MAP Algorithm

The structures of Turbo encoder and decoder are discussed. MAP algorithm and LOG-MAP algorithm, which are decoding methods, are studied. The emluator with the software of MATLAB is designed. According to the designed emluator, performances of Turbo code are compared under different situations, such as different constrained length, different times of iteration and different encoding speed. From simulation results, main factors affecting the performance of Turbo code are educed, namely, interweaver length, iteration times and encoding rate. Performances of Turbo code are improved under various conditions by increasing the length of interweaver and times of iteration as well as decreasing encoding speed.
