A Simple 97tap wavelet filter for image compression

The lifting scheme is an efficient method for construction of the wavelet after multiresolution. Based on the lifting scheme and the Cohen-Daubechies-Feauveau Theorem for constructing biothogonal wavelets, a class wavelet families involving CDF97(C97) are constructed, which not only has excellent compression performance, but also is very suitable for the implementation of ASIC. The computational complexity of the new lifting wavelet filter is enormously reduced.
