Abduction and Grammarization
XU Ning-yun · 2005
Upon the contrast between abductive logic and other logics and also from the perspective of abductive inference, this paper analyzes variational regularities of both the form side and the content side of language symbols in general and reaches the conclusion that novelties in linguistic data could lead to varification and adjustment of the semiotic form-content relationships and hence give rise to new form-content combinations that may not be subject to decompositional analysis. A short-term grammaticalizational phenomenon is described in this paper to support the argument.
