Taking design and realization of the management system based on the cave stalagmite in China as a case, this paper discusses how to practice the secondary development of GIS using a developmental mode,which is com- bination of MapObjects to be component of GIS with Visual Basic of object-oriented programming language.Some functionofthesystemandthedesignofdatabaseareillustrated, it summarizessomeofkeytechniquesusedinthesystem. Thesystemrealizes effectivemanagement instalagmiteinformationofreflectedpaleoenvironment. It provestobeuseful experience for latter system function development, China cave stalagmite information management system.
