Caption Detection in News Video Frames

A caption detection method for news video is proposed in this paper, this method mainly aims at editing captions in news video, such as titles. There are several steps in the method, including gray transformation, edge detection, caption area detection, merging and filtering, etc. It is simple, effective and insensitive to threshold. Experiments show it is effective to most news videoes.
