A dual-mode algorithm suitable for high-order QAM signals is presented . The algorithm uses the Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA) as the first mode , and then , it switches to the second mode in which equalization of the in-phase and quadrature components of constellation symbols is implemented respectively . Based on the decision of the equalizer's output , its iteration process of the proposed algorithm switches between two modes automatically . It achieves a faster convergence compared with the CMA and the algorithm based on the circles. The simulation results show the better convergence rate of the proposed algorithm.
