Printed character analysis based printed document examination

This paper presented a study on printed character image analysis based printed document examination in purpose of identifying the printer which created a suspect printed document.It was composed of printed document image acquisition,ima-ge preprocessing,feature extraction and matching.Designed an optical instrument for document image observation and acquisition under high resolution.It extracted and recognized printed characters in preprocessing.And applied text sensitive methods including distance transformation and direction histogram feature to printer identification.Experiments are carried out in a database including 40 LaserJet printers and an identification accuracy of 89.51% was achieved.The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
