Kongfa Hu · Computer and Modernization · 2008
Resulting from the diversity and heterogeneity of data sources, users of current OLAP system are demanding a higher level openness. An open OLAP system should be able to integrate the general data sources and can effectively manage the meta-data of the system.Meanwhile, the cross platform data access service should be provided by the system. The potential advantages of XML can better satisfy the opening requirements. This paper studies the new requirements proposed by the open OLAP system, then analyzes the role of XML in OLAP system and puts forward the potential advantages of XML technology in implementing OLAP solutions.Lastly, take Mondrian project for example, illustrates how XML is used in the system.
