Research Progress on Phosphors for White Light-emitting Diodes

Menglian Gong · Acta Scientiarum Naturalium Universitatis Sunyatseni · 2007

This paper reports the new research progress on phosphors for white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) over the world in recent years. Red,green, yellow, blue emitting phosphors and white light-emitting phosphors in single matrix excited by blue and near ultraviolet light-emitting semiconductive chips are introduced. Especially, the phosphors with high luminous efficiency, high color rendering index (CRI),low color correlating temperature (CCT) or good color coordinates are emphasized. The progress of WLED performances is also presented. While, the problems existing in this field are also pointed out and a brief prospect of WLEDs is made.
