Multilevel Parallel Software Design Based on Multicore DSP

Xia Ji-ji · Radar Science and Technology · 2014

With the continuous demand for the signal processing performance, multicore DSP software development is one of the important developing trends.Several means, such as instruction parallelism, multicore parallel processing, calculation and transfer parallelism, etc, are able to improve the performance. In the multilevel memories of multicore DSP processor, the nearer the memory to the kernel, the smaller it is,while in large data processing, large memory is needed correspondingly. This contradiction makes the tasks cannot be allocated directly into the kernel of each processor. To solve this problem, parallel task allocation based on an 8-core processor is discussed first, then based on the framework of multicore DSP,a method of two levels of ping-pong is proposed to implement the FFT of large points. In this design,DMA is used to realize the parallel between processing and transmission, which greatly improves the processing performance.
