A novel stroke extraction algorithm for Chinese characters

A subdivision algorithm based on pixel tracking is adopted in most of stroke extracting in some recognition system for handwritten Chinese character. These methods have great instability. In consideration of the structure characteristics of Chinese character, we propose a description algorithm for straightway. The straightway consists of 4 directions of 0, 45, 90 and 135. In this algorithm, the differential method based on structure and probability estimate method based on statistics is fully used. The experiments show that the algorithm has good robustness and it has created conditions for recognition of Chinese characters.
